Water Soluble Beeswax, Encaustic
It has taken many years of research and development to discover and refine a formula for water soluble beeswax, I am now beginning to explore the possibilities of this wonderful media.
Prior to making this paint I was using oil paint like watercolour and watercolour like oil paint. When doing this you find the limitations of the media so I decided to search for something different. I tried to make a water soluble oil paint, only to discover I was not the only one to attempt this. Many have tried throughout art history but is was José Alfonso Cuní (b. 1924) who successful rediscover this formula, his wonderful paint is available online for those who wish to try.
Through experimentation and logical thinking I also have discovered a formula for this special type of paint. The use of water as a solvent makes this paint truly liberating experience to paint with.
